Leucoderma
Leucoderma, also known as Vitiligo in medical term, simply refers to a chronic disorder which results in depigmentation on the skin. It is a Greek word in which the prefix "Leuco" means White and the suffix “Derma” means Skin, hence it refer to Vitiligo disease in which white patches appears on a patients skin due to the deficiency of Melanin - a pigment in melanocytes which give color to the skin. It is also known as Phulveri or Safed Daag in layman's language. This disease is a social stigma because of cosmetic reasons than of medical as there are no complaints like pain or itching etc from almost all of the patients. White patch may start as a small white colored almost milky patch which keeps on increasing in varying size and shapes. Patches are usually uniform in color with well demarcated edges because of peripheral hyperchromia.
