Autologous Skin Grafting
Autologous skin grafting is a Surgical method for Vitiligo to treat patients with very small Vitiligo patches. In autologous skin grafting the doctor removes skin either from the skin donor or from patients own normally pigmented area of skin and transplants it to the de-pigmented area of patient’s skin. The site from which the pigment skin is taken is called Donor where as the Vitiligo patient is called recipients. There are several possible complications of autologous skin grafting. Infections may occur at the donor or recipient sites. The recipient and donor sites may develop scarring, a cobblestone appearance, or a spotty pigmentation, or may fail to re-pigment at all. Also the process of autologous skin grafting is costly. So mostly the people do not go for it as the y either find it unacceptable nor unaffordable.<< BACK TO VITILIGO TREATMENT
