Narrow Band UVB
Vitiligo cure is most desired by almost all vitiligo patients thus, many researches are being conducted to solve this theory through which some treatments have been obtained these treatments although are not permanent cure to vitiligo but can give re-pigmentation to some extent and can mange the disease.Narrow band UVB is one of the treatments for vitiligo obtained through the researches done for vitiligo cure. It is a form of photo therapy which was used for treatment of eczema and psoriasis and now for vitiligo. Besides these, there are many other skin challenges that benefit by using narrow band uvb therapy. The therapy became available in USA in the mid 1990s.
This treatment for vitiligo comprises on Ultra Voilet rays with short range wavelenght which is emittend on vitiligo affected skin. the treatment for vitiligo also do not require any photo-sensitizing agents as in PUVA phototherapy. Narorow band UVB is also preffered over PUVA phototherapy as it has the less risk of severe burning or pathogenic exposure to UV in harmful ranges. However, repeated use over may increase the risk of skin cancer.
