Skin Grafting Using Blisters
Surgical methods for treatment of Vitiligo offers other option in the treatment of Vitiligo. Segmental Vitiligo patients are only good candidates for epidermal grafting using blisters. In this procedure the doctor creates blisters on the pigmented area of skin using heat, suction, or freezing cold. Later the top of these blisters are cut out and transplanted to the skin area affected by Vitiligo.The success rate of re-pigmentation of Vitiligo affected skin through blister roof grafting as risks include the development of a cobblestone appearance, scarring, and lack of re-pigmentation. However, it is considered better than other methods of skin grafting due to the less risk of scarring.
