Topical Psoralen Photo-Chemo Therapy

Psoralen photo-chemo therapy or PUVA for patients with localized Vitiligo is carried out topically. The topical psoralen treatment is typically carried out in observation of a doctor in which a think layer of psoralen in form of cream is applied to the affected skin 30 mins prior it is exposed to UVA light. The treatment is carried out usually twice a week.

The skin undergone this treatment for vitiligo turns pink on the exposure of UV light and than eventually, fade into a more normal skin color. The treatment is considered better than oral PUVA, but may rose complications such as un-equal skin color or even hyper pigmentation.
